Some tips for many addons for PS1.3! ==================================== Updated: Dec, 14th, 2005, 1936z NEW: Tips to setup VinXP (in "VMD/VIDTsr/VIDServ" section) SimWX 15.9.7 Tips Tiller v1.2 MCDU 2.8 brightness setting with arrows FSUIPC.DLL version 3.521 WideFS 6.52 Jeroen's released MCDU v2.2.1 with many new user-interface upgrades! How to install and use the "SB747 to GoFlight Bridge" with GF-46 and GF-166 modules! OpenGL displays v0.98.6 Free key for Visual744 v2.0.8 with FSUIPC.dll * Running sequence: ================= On the PS1 computer: First VIDTsr+PS1.3-EE4 (in same DOS box), then Broker 1.31, 747 IPC 2.6 (should connect by itself to both PS1.3 and Broker) and last VIDServ 1.4. On the "Visuals" computer: FS2004, then VMD, then MCDU. Then I open VMD windows, and last I click "Send CDU text to MCDU". Optional: you may then run the TF v2.1 on PS1 computer if you want online TCAS feature, it may save your (virtual) life on those busy NATs (North Atlantic Tracks) as it did for me yesteray! Then you can also run Tiller utility and external engine sound, and you'll get some 'live" info using MCDU prompts. IMPORTANT: before running 747IPC, you need to load a situation containing a FMC loaded with a RTE containing at least 32 waypoints. I'm using "ELLX1.ini" (Luxembourg - Abu Dhabi): This is due to the keys required in vmread.cfg to handle Markus new OpenGL displays (v0.98.5). It features RTE on ND and loads of great new functions, such as VSD and EGPWS displays and callouts. See http://www.dispays.glideslope.de * Broker 1.6 ========== What is it for? --------------- Broker is to enable PS1 communications, via a TCP/IP network (local, or via Internet) with other computers How to setup? ------------- Just unzip it, keeping directory structure (bin, lib, etc...), indicate him where PS1 is located, and check the "high priority" box. Check the "external data link" is checked in PS1! If (and only if!) you use Visual744, you've got to "override" some keys, to prevent some errors. You do that by checking the "Override GET ALL" button, and fill the text box below with the following lines: IPC.baro IPC.bank IPC.mag IPC.thdg IPC.grid IPC.dalt IPC.talt IPC.elev IPC.pitch IPC.ias IPC.vs IPC.latdeg IPC.latmin IPC.londeg IPC.lonmin pit bnk hdg gnd var alt com xpd gea hrs min flp sbr lad lam las lod lom los VM.NavLightSwitch VM.InboardLeftLightSwitch VM.StrobeLightSwitch How to use it? -------------- Just run it, and check the connection message appears! * 747IPC 2.6 ========== What is it for? --------------- It is to access (read and write) into PS1's memory with external programs, with a high rate update frequency, up to ps1's internal 18.2 rounds per second clock. How to setup? ------------- Unzip it, edit the ipc.ini text file to tell IPC where PS1 is located, and the IP address of Broker, set the slider to 20Hz, check "enable vmread module". How to use it? -------------- Once PS1 and broker are running, click on the "Connect PS1" and "Connect Broker" buttons, check that they stay "pushed", and the "warning" sign on top bar "no PS1 & Broker connections" disappears. That's all! * Engine 1.2 ========== What is it for? --------------- It provides you realistic cockpit sounds, including engines sound and air sound increasing with IAS. So you can now turn off PS1's continuous engine sound and enjoy very smooth thrust variations when accelerating, and during thrust changes. How to setup? ------------- UnZip it where you want, with both DLLs in same directory as the eng.exe file, and also add both wav files required. Use my vmread.cfg file, or manually add the 2 following lines to your existing vmread.cfg: 27de 2 A_INT 2 IPC.thrust 29c6 2 A_INT 20 IPC.geardrag Edit the eng.ini fie, to reflect the correct Broker IP address, and full path for both wav files. Optional; you may want to "mute" the native PS1 "spool up" annd spool down sounds during large thurst setting changes. To acheive that, simply rename C32, C34, C35 and C36.wav (in /audio directory) to something else, and they will automagically be ignored and won't interfere with new sound. How to use it? -------------- You can optionnally run Jeroen's MCDU first to have a new prompt to monitor sound parameters. Then run all you programs (VIDTsr+PS1, Broker, IPC2.6), and last Eng.exe. Wait a little while it initializes itself. If you don't get any external sound when switching into PS1, simply "ALT - TAB" to desktop and then back to PS1, it should go back fine. To exit, either "classical" task closing works, or quit eng.exe using LSK 6R from Jeroen's MCDU. * External Displays v0.98.6 ========================= What is it for? --------------- Theese are program to display on a "remote" computer the PFD/ND and standby instruments in high graphics quality using OpenGL features for smoothing and "vector-looking". Also provides external traffic ND symbology and full EGPWS features with terrain display. Theese programs read data directly from PS1 via IPC and bulid their own pictures. How to setup? ------------- Extract the files, retaining the directory structure in a directory. Oprionally, if you want to have full EGPWX functionnality, you may go to USGS website (http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/gtopo30/gtopo30.asp) to download fully world GTOPO30 database (30 arc-second resolution, about 1km), for elevation data. For GTOPO30 installation just unzip all the 33 dem files in the DATA subdirectory. Be careful to uncheck the "TAR file smart conversion" if using WinZip to do that. You also need to update your VMRead.cfg file, I suggest using mine that runs great. At first run, set the Broker IP address in options/settings menu. If you want online TCAS symbols on the ND, check that you have "traffic passthrough" set to "ON" in SB747 setup. How to use it? -------------- Just click "connect", and after a few seconds PFD and ND should come to life! If animation isn't smooth, uncheck the smoothing features, and disable textures for terrain elevation data. Try also to remove frames using Ctrl-F You can also choose the captain or F/O position, or even use only PFD or ND, that may help saving some CPU when running many addons on a single computer. * FSUIPC.dll 3.521 ================ What is it for? --------------- It's a module to enable "remote" control of Flight Simulator 2004. For FS2002, you can use FSUIPC v2.x How to setup? ------------- Just put the "FSUIPC.DLL" file into your FS2004 "module" subfolder. NOTE: you need to register FSUIPC.DLL to enable use of FS2004 as external visuals for PS13 via Visual744. It is recommended to get WideFS at the same time, it's quite useful.. and you'll save $$$: 20$ each, 30$ for both FSUIPC + WideFS! See "Visual744" section for the (legal) free FSUIPC key to register Visual744 v2.0.8 application. How to use it? -------------- On first use, just go to FS2004 "modules" menu, and enter your personal registration key. no other action is required when your run it at later times. * GoFlight Bridge v1.61 ===================== What is it for? --------------- It's a utility to provide SB747 radio and transponder "remote" control when flying online. Note it's not to tune PS1's internal radios and set internal squawk code. How to setup? ------------- Switch your computer off, plug the consoles. Then switch you PC on, and install only GoFlight drivers as Windows detects them automatically. I'm using driver version 1.33 supplied with the hardware. Then, unzip GFSB161.zip in a directory of your choice, retaining the /bin and /lib subdirectory structure. How to use it? -------------- At first run, enter the Broker IP address, set you desired light intensity for frequency displays... and that's all for now! Wen flying online, simply use GF-166 to tune radio frequencies, and GF-45 or 46 for transponder control. GF-166 is used like a real one, middle pushbutton swaps frequencies and concentric knobs tune full and decimal frequency. GF-46 is like a real transponder panel, use external knob to set first 2 digits of squawk code, internal ring for last 2 digits tuning, or mode switching (Standby/auto/on) if more than 2 seconds after tuning external ring. The pushbutton is simply for squawking Ident on ATC request. * MCDU 2.2.1 ========== What is it for? --------------- It is to provide a "MCDU like" interface to many programs, such as SquawkBox747, Traffic v2.1 or above, or even provide full PS1 remote MCDU oparation if used with VMD CDU window open How to setup? ------------- Just unzip it, keeping the directory structure. On the PS1 PC: run PS1, 747IPC and Broker. Then on MCDU program, for first running, go to the configuration page, and enter Broker IP address, choose window width and colors (Red, Green and Blue components), then exit to save configuration file. For color matching, default R/G/B setting is 96/144/0, but you may prefer 100/225/100 for more realistic one. You can also download new updated MCDU fonts from http://www.hoppie.nl/tmp/ How to use it? -------------- On PS1 machine, run PS1, Broker, 747IPC. Run MCDU as desired on as many PC you wish.. As needed, run SquawkBox, TF v2.1, and VMD (with CDU text exportation) to get corresponding modes... and enjoy it! Tip: you can change brightness from inside MCDU in all modes simply pressing Up or Down arrows! If screen is fulyl dark, it may be that it's et to zero so press Up arrow ot increase it! * PcProxy 1.1.1 ============= What is it for? --------------- It is to connect more than one client to IVAO or VatSim network, since you're only able to connect once. You can use it to connect SB744 and SB for FS to get external traffic visible in outside view How to setup? ------------- Just put it somewhere, go to "properties" menu, and enter the IP address of the VatSim or IVAO server you want to connect to. You'll find theese IPO addresse on the networks' websites. How to use it? -------------- First connect SB744 to pcProxy, and wait for the network connection messages. Then connect SB2.3.5 to PcProxy, it will automatically be set as a secondary client. * Pushback1.3 =========== What is it for? --------------- This small utility is to "remote control" the pushback, particularly when flying online, want probably don't want to taxi into buildings, or on other trafics online! You can decide which side you want to be pushed back, and when you want to stop. How to setup? ------------- Just indicate (each time to run it!) the Broker IP address, then see latter section for usage) How to use it? -------------- Pushback version 1.3 usage is really simple! First, connect psuhabck v1.2 to Broker, and set the parking brakes ON. Then, click "ATC voice on" on Pushback, and click "hitch", and wait a few (up to about 20) seconds: the internal "ATC" in PS1 shoud come to life and tell you to "release brakes". Then, release brakes, wait a little after "pushing back" voice on PS13, and as speed (gs on ND) comes out of zero, click the big "REV" button, and click "TAIL LEFT" or "TAIL RIGHT" (many times, changing "target heading by 10° each press) according to where you want to be pushed back. When you're where you want to stop, just "unclick" the big "REV". Wait till speed comes to zero on ND, unclick "hitch", ad click "hitch"... you'll hear the "Towing system removed, and steering pin removed". Wait till "Set parking brakes" voice to set brakes ON again! That's all! * RWD (Roger Wilco Daemon) ======================== What is it for? --------------- It's a program to enable SquawkBox for PS1.3 (currently v1.99i) to remotely tune a voice Client (Roger Wilco or Advances Voice Client) when SB747 and voice client aren't on the same computer. How to setup? ------------- Just unzip the rwd.exe file into any directory of the PC on which you're running your voice client. AT first run, just indicate the broker IP address, and the complete path of the ".exe" file voice client (RW or AVC). How to use it? -------------- Just run it and run your voice client. When you switch frequency from PS1.3 flight deck or from SB747 (and even from MCDU interface), you should automatically switch to the correct voice channel... if available! Just check your autotuning status typing ".rw a", or type ".rw a/on" to activate autotuning in SB VHF line * SimWX 15.9.7 ============ WHat is it for? --------------- It enables you to inject real winds aloft while on cruise and live METAR from real world, even when flying offline How to setup? ------------- Install the basic version then the upgrade in c:\SimWX directory, as it's needed for internal file managment. Also download the provided ".cfg" file from SimWX website. Then, go to regional settings of Windows (configuration panel) and change decimal separator from "," to "."! In SimWX, I recommend to leave the "timer" options set to 4 seconds, and choose "University of Wyoming" source as it's quite reliable and acurate. Avoid also to run a "performance sensitive" program on same PC as SimWX, as its polling of PS1 position and weather injection every 4 seconds might cause dramatic slowdown in other software performance. e.g. avoid FS2004 or Visual744 program on SImWX PC if you can do so. In "Broker comms" menu, set Broker IP address, and check Broker and IPC are running before connecting SimWX. In some cases, when being unable to establish Internet connexions, SimWX crashes itself, just kill the task and restart it, as it had no chance to affect other programs. Be sure to check both "on line METAR" and "On line winds aloft" boxes if you wish them to be downloaded. How to use it? -------------- Set a departure and arrival ICAO codes on "METAR lock" fields, leave distance to 50NM as it's running fine. Then click on "start" button to start live updating. You can click on "minimize view" button the remove left and right configuration parts of the screen, so leaving only live parameters displaying. Note: if flying online, it's very important that you first connect SimWX, then start SB747 with winds and METAR updading all set OFF, otherwise they might both "fight" regarding whar weather to use! If winds suddenly come to "0/0" and remain like that for several seconds it probably means SimWX has hanged, so simply kill it and restart it. If you run Hoppie's MCDU,you'll be able to get TA>Fs and METAR from this interface, using the "SIMWX" mode. * SquawkBox 2.02 ============== What is it for? --------------- This utility enables you to connect PS1.3 to VatSim or IVAO network. You need to be member or the network and get a personal ID and password. How to setup? ------------- First, download my vmread.cfg, since it features all the keys you need to run all addons. Then, unzip the file, keeping the structure of subdirectories. On first run, go to "setup" menu, enter you real name, ID and pasword in the respective fields. Choose any server on the list. (note: You may add one or more, simply modify the "host.txt" file to add a "local" IP address if you want to run it via PcProwy for multiple connections) How to use it? -------------- First, you have to fill a flightplan, with a callsign (ex: AFR258, STV1010, or F-BSLC), a departure and arrival airport by ICAO 3-letter code (such as LFPG, EDDK, KORD...), enter times in "UTC" (as 1200). For routen enter waypoints and airways if applicable. Then, simply click "connect", wait for the connection messages to be displayed. If you use it on the same PC as PS1, press "K"' key from PS1 flight deck ot type any text. Frequency tuning is simply done from PS1 radio panel. If you use it on another PC, simply type the text for radio communictions on the bottom line. Here are some useful "dot" commands for features ".msg" to send a private message to a ATC or acft. Example: ".msg VSG357 How are you?" to sent "How are you" to VSG357 ".atis" to request ATIS of a ATC. Example: ".atis LFPG_V_APP" to request ATIS from LFPG approach controller. ".wxr" to request and set local weather. Example: ".wxr LPMA" to get online METAR from LPMA (Madeira Funchal) ".metar" to request METAR report. Example: ".metar MMMX" to request latest METAR for Mexico-city on private mseeage ".ident" to squawk ident (on ATC request only!) ".rw a" to aknowledge the autotuning mode, and ".rw a/on" or ".rw a/off" to set autotuner on or off * Tiller v1.22 ============ What is it for? --------------- It enables you to use a joystick plugged into a "remote" computer to handle "steering tiller" as in real. It features a special" functions, pressing buttons #1 provides "toe brakes" functions, same as pressing spacebar from inside PS1. How to setup? ------------- Simply place it on the same computer as the "steering tiller" joystick. Then run it, and simply enter the IP address of the Broker (192.168.0.5 for me) in the editing field. In case you change IP addresses, or even want to change joystick sentitivity, just use user interface, or simply edit and save the tiller.ini file using notepad. If it goes wrong, delete the .ini file, another one with default settings will be generated for you. How to use? ----------- You have to run VIDTSR and VIDServ first, as it pokes into PS1's memory. after first run, no action required at all, simply steer using the joystick... and enjoy it! You can use MCDU interface to change and monitor parameters in a "live" way! * Traffic v2.1 ============ What is it for? --------------- It enables online traffic injection when flying on VatSim or IVAO networks, with SquawkBox747. Nearby traffic may appear on the ND (and PS1's external window) when on TCAS range. You may also encounter TAs or RAs if conditions are met! How to setup? ------------- Just put TF.EXE in the same directory as 747IPC, edit TF.INI configuration file to reflect where PS1 is located. Check "TCAS simulation on" is checked on PS1 instructor page! You'll need 747IPC 2.6 or above to run it. You need to add some lines to your existing VMRead.cfg file, I recommend you to use my VMRead.cfg, it had all necessary keys! How to use? ----------- Run 747IPC, (VIDTsr + PS1), then Broker and VIDServ, connect IPC to PS1 and Broker. You may run MCDU program on other computer(s). Then run TF.EXE, a "TRAFFIC" prompt will apprear on the MCDU if ran before. That's all! * Visual744 2.0.8 =============== What is it for? --------------- It links PS1.3 (1.3a, EE3 or EE4) with FS2002 or FS2004 (via FSUIPC and Broker + 747IPC) to get external visuals with PS1.3 How to setup? ------------- You need FSUIPC installed for it to run. For FS2004, you need version 3.00 or above. You can also use this free registration key for FSUIPC: Product: "Visual744", Company: "Urs Von Aesch, CH 8625, Gossau ZH", Key = D8F9 90I7 RZTY Visual744 must be run after Broker and after FS. You should set the decimal separator (in "regional settings" of Windows) to "." instead of "," otherwise you'll get a "type mismatch" error when pushing the slider out of zero or when connecting. I recomend you to download and install John Davis latest offset file, featuring all airports in the PS1 world. On first run, just set Broker address, offset file, choose "offset computing always active" and "altitude affsets active", disable the "replay" option (it uses a lot CPU time), and that's all! How to use it? -------------- You should be in the cockpit of FS (not any menu), and NOT is slew mode. Then, you click "connect" and FS will slew by itself. If the airplane "jumps", just disconnect and reconnect Visual744 Don't be too "hungry" with performance, for me, on a P4-2.4GHz, the "performance" slider is set to 30, and I get about 7 to 13 fps in FS2004. * VMD, VIDServ & VIDTsr 1.4 ========================== What are theese for? -------------------- This is a package to enable "bitmap capture" of PS1's screen, and display it on another computer via TCP/IP network How to setup? ------------- Unzip all files, except VMD.INI and VMD.EXE to the same PC here PS1 is running. Then, edit the vidserv.ini file to tell VIDServ in what directory PS1 is located. Then, you have to create a .bat file (I called it PS1.bat) to run both VIDTsr and PS1 i nthe same DOS box. Mine is: @echo off lh vidtsr cd.. ps cd bin vidtsr r exit On the other PC where you want to display some parts of PS1 screens, edit the "vmd.ini" file to reflect IP addresses for Broker and VIDServ. WinXP tip: don't use the "lh" command, so second line of ".bat" file is only "vidtsr", otherwise you will not get keyboard injection on MCDU neither using tilelr. How to use it? -------------- On the PS1 computer, run the "PS1.bat" file (instead of PS1 executable file), Broker, and 747IPC. Then, run VIDServ software On the VMD computer, run VMD.EXE, click on the buttons corresponding to the parts of PS1's screen you want to display. Is you use Jeroen's MCDU, you can enable a new MCDU prompt clicking on the "send CDU text to MCDU" if CDU window is open. * WideFS 6.52 =========== What is it for? --------------- WideFS is a small (shareware) program to run FS utilities that use FSUIPC in another computer for CPU power saving. How to setup? ------------- You only need WideFS if you wish to run Visual744, SBRelay, FS9SB2MP, SB for FS on another PC than the Flight Simulator machine. Do NOT use WideFS if you're running Visual (and other utilities) on the same PC as FS. Just unzip the WideServer part into the "modules" folder of FS2004. Unzip the "WideClient" part on all other computer where you plan to use FS addons. Eventually edit the "WideClient.ini" file to reflect the IP addresses of FS2004 computer. I strongly recommend to use the IP address of PC (instead of names) and TCP/IP protocol for setup, adding the "ServerIPAddr=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" in [Config] section, just replace the "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" by you actual IP address such as 192.168.0.2 for example. How to use it? -------------- Simply run FS2004, then WideClient on other computers. Then, you may run addons on the computers where you use WideClien. For example, you can run SB 2.3.x, FS9SB2MP, Visual744 or other external addons for FS2004 on another computer than the FS one! * WinTwy 1.0 ========== What is it for? --------------- WinTwy (Taxiway for Windows) is a small utility to display a "top view" of airports layouts on another computer than the one running PS1.3. It may be quite useful for position awareness while taxiing on some very complex and "labyrintic" airports such as KORD, LFPG. How to setup? ------------- Just unezip it on another computer, NOT the one running PS1.3. You need to add 2 lines on the VMRead.cfg file, I recommend you tu use my own VMRead.cfg file that had all the keys to run all existing addons. You need to modify the "wintwy.ini" file to tell wintwy where broker is located. How to use it? -------------- Be sure you have departure and destination airports entered in "RTE" page inside PS1.3 MCDU. Then, simply press Ctrl-F12 to toggle between DEP ad ARR airport display inside WinTwy. Press PGUP or PGDN key to zoom in or out. That's all!
